THE SERIES vs. Rutgers-Camden: NJCU leads all-time series, 15-5. NJCU had led the series, 15-0 before Camden won the last five meetings (2009-13) including four by a 3-0 result.

LAST MEETING: October 24, 2013 in Camden, NJ. The Scarlet-Raptors swept NJCU 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-10), while hitting .405 as a team and held a 38-12 margin in kills with only six errors. The Raptors landed 15 aces, five of them coming from Melanie Kaiser.  Leading Rutgers-Camden was Morgan Halbrumer who smashed nine kills and a .538 attack rate, adding two blocks. Olivia Rowland registered a .556 percentage, landing five kills on nine attempts without an error, while chipping in four blocks. Jade Medley finished with a team-high four kills (4-1-15, .200).

LAST TIME OUT: NJCU faced second place, Kean University on Tuesday night and lost, 3-0 (25-14 25-15, 25-15). Medley was the most efficient player and led the Gothic Knights with nine kills and a .292 percentage (9-2-24) to improve her career kills total to 887.  One-time NJAC Rookie of the Week, setter Rachel McIntyre, delivered her fifth double-double of her freshman campaign (20 assists and 10 digs). Ashley Latushko defended nine digs and landed four kills.

NJAC TROUBLE: Both teams come into today’s match winless in the NJAC. The last win for Rutgers-Camden was a sweep against Rutgers-Newark on October 29, 2013 (25-18, 25-19, 25-15). The Gothic Knights have one win over a NJAC opponent since 2010, coming from their 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8) defeat over Rutgers-Newark on October 10, 2013.

ABOUT RUTGERS-CAMDEN: The Scarlet Raptors have lost 10 straight matches, winning only eight sets in that time. Their last win was a sweep against Wesley on September 20. Sophomore libero and defensive specialist, Melanie Kaiser won the week one NJAC Defensive Player of the Week. Junior middle hitter Olivia Rowland is ranked first in the NJAC and 24th nationally, in total blocks (82) and is second in the league and 35th nationally in blocks per set (1.04)—just .03 per set off the league lead.

1000-POINT MEDLEY: Jade Medley reached a historical plateau on October 7, becoming the sixth Gothic Knight to register 1,000 career points.  She is entering today’s match with 1038.0 career points—887 kills, 11 service aces, 104 solo blocks and 74 assisted blocks. She is fifth in school history in kills and needs 113 more in 12 matches to become the fourth player with 1,000 career kills.

MCINWINNER: Rachel McIntyre was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for week six of the 2014 season on October 7. She is the first Gothic Knight to take home the award in eight seasons. McIntyre, a 5-foot-7 double major in Criminal Justice and Creative Writing, is the first NJCU player named NJAC Rookie of the Week since Alex Johanesen, also a setter, took home the honor in weeks one and three of the 2007 campaign. McIntyre had posted five double-doubles this year. She attends the University on a full Presidential academic scholarship.

DOUBLE DIGIT MIDDLES: Both of NJCU’s middles, Jade Medley and Shege Haxhaj have reached double figures in kills multiple times in their career. Medley has reached double digits in kills 35 times in her career and 10 times this season. Haxhaj has accomplished the feat five times this year and 10 times as a collegian.
